Linda Masarira, ZWIPA Founder and National Coordinator said this is the right time for Zimbabwean to awaken to the call and stand up to demand their constitutional rights.

“ The nation is suffering from high unemployment rate and the very same government is doing nothing to alleviate the plight of the very few workers still employed who no longer have a pay day for example NRZ employees a wholly owned state enterprise,

“The negligence and arrogance of our government has gone unchecked for long time now, our quietness as a nation shall no longer go on , if are to see a new dawn in our country’s demise , we need to be bold speak out now and that’s what we are exactly doing without going back,

The economic crisis in our country is affecting children and thereby painting a dark future for them Money does not grow on trees. Where do they expect parents to get money for school fees in this harsh economic climate?” , said Linda  Masarira,

Anti-Compulsory HIV testing for Primary School Children Video

I'm old enough to confess that life is indeed a mystery. I've seen a Landlord become a Tenant. I've seen an owner of a Benz pedaling a bicycle. I know a student who became a Headmaster in his former school with most of those who taught him still teaching. I have seen once rejected boy becoming the bread winner for a whole community. A once sought after Lady begging a young guy half her age to date her. A Victor becoming a victim. So drivers conductor buying a car for his master. A borrower recruiting the credit manager. In Life, No one knows tomorrow and you can never trust life because it's mysterious. Never ever forget, You may not know the full story, don't be quick to judge, every coin has two sides. Treat everyone in your life fairly like your own and love as much as you live. So let us be kind, love more and do not try to be smart in our own eyes; for we do not know what tomorrow holds for us. Enough of kudadirana, iwe neni tine basa rekusunungura Zimbabwe kubva muhunhapwa. Goodmorning, Have a Blessed Day

Linda Masarira

Linda Masarira.jpg
Linda Masarira is passionate about fighting for democracy in Zimbabwe. She’s a strong advocate for human rights, particularly women’s rights, and that advocacy has made her many enemies as well as friends.
Masarira founded the Zimbabwe Women in Politics Alliance (ZWIPA). The group addresses issues that others ignore. For example, recently she and other women were detained after they peacefully marched to the Kuwait embassy, demanding the repatriation of women who were used there as sex slaves. In addition to public protests, members of the ZWIPA conduct voter and human rights awareness campaigns in the countryside, as well as training programmes so that others can be effective in their efforts.
“I have great passion in fighting for freedom and democracy in my country,” says Masarira, “regardless of the risk that I have encountered along the way. Here in Zimbabwe the government is reluctant to respect fundamental human rights that are enshrined in the new constitution. Hence, I have taken it upon myself to be active in advocating for citizens rights in my country no matter the consequences.”
Masarira is also an active member of the Zimbabwe Activists Alliance (ZAA). Through ZAA, she has led a campaign calling for the country’s Vice President to vacate a 5-star hotel that he has been staying in together with his family for over a year—using taxpayer money. Again, she was detained and later released. Masarira has vowed to continue with her work:
“As long as there is no respect for human rights in the country, I will keep on advocating for such rights.”

HIV testing postponed

Addressing delegates at the US Embassy Public Affairs
This morning 3 female activists visited Dzivarasekwa 5 primary school where HIV testing for primary school pupils was to take place at 9am. There were scrupulous cars following us and making calls. At 9am we were advised that nurses were not yet there and the programme was going to start when they arrive. The nurses arrived at 11, stood around whilst one guy who was in a yellow T-shirt was on the phone. After the cellphone conversation the man spoke to who looked like the nurse in charge who advised us that the child protection service could not come today, the nurses from Rujeko are here and we cannot proceed in their absence.
This clearly shows that the noise i made yesterday about this compulsory testing of children yielded results and the programme has been halted. I still have questions for the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education. What was the purpose of this exercise? Why was it not publicized? Why are you violating children's rights? ‪#‎enoughisenough‬
Thank you Lynnette Mudehwe and Shallon Muvirimi for standing up and fighting for children's rights. Aluta acontinua.
